Stephen, Jr., spent most of his life farming. He may have been involved occasionally in the occupation of his brothers-in-law Dominicus and James Sewell, as in 1880 he was a clock-tinker. In any case, if the size of cemetery monuments are an indication of success, then Stephen was at least moderately successful at his endeavors.

In addition, in his will369, executed by his sons S. G. Veazie and C. H. Veazie, Stephen left to his daughter Martha Huchins $150, to Charles Huchins (mentioned in other administrative documents as his grandson) $150, to his daughter Eva A Cram $250, to his son S. G. Veazie $500, to his son C. H. Veazie $500, to his son F. M. Veazie the interest on $300 during the life of his (Stephen's) wife - thereafter the money to be his own, and to his wife Sarah the use of his house and lot in Caton Center, and the use of about $1800 during her life, after her death to be divided equally among his children, providing Sarah releases her right of dower to it. This amounts to over $3600 in bequeaths, a respectable sum in 1881.

Sarah's headstone in Caton has her deathdate as Oct 3, 1907. The register of her death gives the cause of death as "paralysis." At the time of her death, as related in her obituary4669, she had been a resident of Caton, NY, for 51 years. She was survived by Mrs Eva A Cram of Olean, F. Melvin Veazie of Elmira, and Charles H Veazie of Cooper's Plains. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
