Orin appears in records variously as Orin, Orrin and Oren.

In 1850, Orin is listed⁵¹⁹⁶ as "laborer." In 1855⁵¹⁹⁷ and 1860⁵¹⁹⁸, he was apparently living alone, and is listed as a blacksmith.

Orin married⁸⁸⁶ 3) Harriet (Fish) Studly, Nov 20th or 19th, 1860, in Sandwich, MA. He was age 63 at the time. That record lists his parents as Gamaliel and Betsey Bates.

Oren G Bates died³²⁷¹ Feb 11, 1872, in Pembroke, MA, of "mortification" at the age of 76y and 2 days. He was married at the time of his death. Though his gravestone⁸⁴⁰ has his birth year as 1798, most records indicate an earlier year is more likely.

His death record does not list his father's name but indicates his mother was "Betsy Goodwin," born in Pembroke.

Abigail Bates died⁵¹⁹⁵, "wife of Or(?)en Bates," died Sep 18, 1852, in Pembroke, Mass. She was married and born in Pembroke. Her gravestone⁸⁴⁰, which she shares with "Orin G Bates" reads: "Abigail S. His Wife / 1795 - 1852."

In an affidavit⁴⁸³² deposed by her sister Mary White, Mary stated that her sister Abigail "married and left three children" then living: Maria Keene, wife of William Keene, of Marshfield; Marsha Parry, wife of John T. Parry, of Pembroke; and Abigail S. Magoon, wife of Martin Magoon, of Pembroke.

Orin G, Jr, is buried⁸⁴⁰ in Pembroke, Mass., and he shares a gravestone with his parents.
