Ray McGowan resided with his parents in 1900, 1905, and 1910. Following his father's death, Ray, "step son," resided2529 in 1915 with his mother and her second husband, Edward A Parish (enumerated as "Parris") in Hornell, NY. In those early years, Ray worked as a messenger for a railroad, and as a laborer at a planing mill.

Ray worked as a clerk for a steam railroad. During World War II, Ray served as Corporal in Co. A, 125th Infantry, 32nd Div, having enlisted May 9, 1917, and serving until Apr 3, 1919.

Ray died6066 Oct 14, 1948, Detroit, MI. He was survived by wife Margaret C, daughter Mrs Lois Bacon, son Robert G, brother Earle McGowan, and sister Mrs Millicent Bonner.

Margaret McGowan was a member5636 of the First United Methodist Church, Zephyrhills; survivors of her death were daughter Mrs Lois Bacon, son Robert McGowan; brother Howard Skinner; and 3 sisters: Mrs Dorothy Dellis, Mrs Betty Tomsack, and Mrs Della McCallan.
