In 1861, following Ira Goodell Childs' death, J Ward's mother, Abigail Wilder Childs, married Israel Trask. In 1870, J Ward's mother, now Abigail C Trask, along with Sarah A Childs, dau of Abigail and J Ward's sister, lived with J Ward and Phebe.
J Ward's gravestone, which he shares with Phebe Ann Sherman Childs, reads: "Superintendent of the Bowery Mission New York." His marriage record (src 855 227:310) lists his parents.
Mrs Phebe A S Childs is listed in the 1928 voter registration list for Los Angeles County, CA, living at 149 S Madison av.
