EARLE MCGOWAN (n.m.n.)
(son of Lewis Rose
McGowan) was born 6 Oct 1893 in Hammondsport (Steuben) NY. He died in
Aug 1981 in Newark (Licking) OH. He married HAZEL VERA STEVENS on 27
Jun 1917 in Corning. She was the daughter of HARRY JASON STEVENS and
JENNIE LEOLA STURDEVANT. She was born 7 Jan 1896 in Curtis, Campbell
Twp. (Steuben) NY. She died in 1983. Earle and Hazel are both buried in Coopers
Plains Cemetery, Erwin (Steuben) NY.
Earle worked as a telegrapher and as an engineer for the Corning Glass Works
in Corning, NY. He was a Son of the American Revolution and a dedicated genealogist.

his work. The genealogies on this site are dedicated to his memory.
Earle McGowan and his siblings were given no middle names. Family legend has it that his father did not like his middle name and refused to give any to his male children.
