Marion Springer, Steuben Co Historian¹⁰⁶¹ , indicated that Jesse, age 26, married in Urbana, 1891, "--- Jesseys." In the 1892 New York census, Cora Barclay, age 26, is listed just below Jesse Barclay, age 26, in Urbana. Cora may be the Cora Jessup that appears in the 1870 and 1880 US censuses for Orange, New York, the daughter of Amos and Adaline Jessup. No other "Cora's" with names close to "Jesseys" are found, nor is Cora Jessup (or variations of that name) found in later records. Thus, Cora Jessup appears to be the best candidate for Jesse Barkley's wife Cora.

Marion Springer also indicates that Jesse married "--- Bailey" in 1897. Harriet Bailey, daughter of Samuel and Mary Bailey is more easiy located, as, in 1920, following Jesse's death in 1916, "Harriett Barclay," daughter and widowed, is living with Samuel and Mary Bailey. Grace Bailey, "niece," born ~1892, is living with Jesse and Harriet in 1910. In 1900, Harriet is listed as the mother of one, one living, and son Samuel is listed immediately below. Below Samuel is listed Grace "Barkley," age 8, born 1892. As is common in census records, those persons listed out of birth order in a family are often not of the relationship to the head of household indicated, or are from a previous marriage, etc.

The transcription¹⁰⁷⁹ for Jesse's heastone, listed as "Jesse F Banlay," is likely incorrect and should be "Barclay." The plot for his grave is the same as for Harriett Barclay (Harriet Bailey) and ages at death indicate birth years matching Jesse and Hattiet.
