Cyrus enlisted¹⁵¹⁵ in the U S Army, Feb 14, 1901, in Hornellsville, New York. He was discharged Jan 26, 1904, at Angel Island, California. He was a machinist/millwright and worked for National Carbon Co.

The obituary¹⁵¹⁷ for Ilena's sister Ethel, mentions Ethel's maiden name (Orr), her surviving sister Ilena Fay Morrison and surviving brother Leroy J Orr. A search of census records for the Orr family including Ethel, Ilena and Leroy Orr determines Ilena's parents.
