In a newspaper²³⁹³ article, 1968: Carl, a native of Seattle, was a 1943 graduate of Whitman College (Walla Walla, WA). He was awarded an MBA by Columbia University in 1948, studied at Kenyon College (Gambier, OH) and the Biarritz Army University in Biarritz, France. The article also describes an accomplished career in economics, having been a consultant with several ecomonic consulting firms; assistant trade economist for the Port of New York Authority; the Connecticut Interregional Planning Program chief economist; staff economist at Bowdoin College Public Affairs Research Center (Brunswick, ME).
