The North Adams (MA) Transcript, June 17, 1942, announced the engagement of Mary Alice Dyson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Samuel R Dyson, to John E Veazie, son of Mr and Mrs William E Veazie, the "marriage will take place soon." The wedding announcement itself appeared (ibid) June 20, 1942. Mary and Jack were married at the First Universalist Church, Rev Pliny A Allen, officiating.

Jack attended Drury High School, and the Ithaca (NY) college of Physical Education. He graduated from the North Adams State Teachers college. At the time of Jack's marriage to Mary, he was principal of the South school at Orange. Jack may be the Jack Veazie mentioned July 24, 1941, North Adams (MA) Transcript, as the director of YMCA Camp Stayhom, a day camp at Windsor Lake. He was living in Portsmouth, VA, at the time of his father's death3024.

Jack Erwin Veazie died5502 Dec 9, 1992, at his residence in Norfolk, VA. He was a schoolteacher and coach at Cradock High School, and supervisor of Transportation Buses for Portsmouth. He was a World War II veteran.

He was survived by wife Mary Alice Veazie; a daugher, Mara Sue Bass of Virgiinia Beach; sisters Elizabeth F Manzella and Helen Roberts; two brothers William Harney Veazie and Robert Veazie; and 3 grandchildren.

Mary attended Drury High School and Lasell Junior College. In 1967, The North Adams (MA) Transcript3303 mentioned Mrs. John Veazie, the former Mary Alice Dyson, as placing first in the Sears Roebuck Art Show, third place at the Chesapeake Art Guild Exhibit, and thrid place at the Portsmouth (VA) Junior Chamber of Commerce Art Show. Also mentioned was that Mrs. Veazie taught exploratory art in Academy Park Junior High School in Portsmouth. One of her works was on display at the Norfolk Museum.
