Married4537 1895~4545 at porb New York. In the 1900 census4545 for Lockport, Carrie and Hugh had been married 5 years. In the 1910 census4537 for Lockport, NY, Hugh Travers and wife Carrie, both born ~1872 in New York, are listed as married 14 years. That they were married in New York state is an assumption.
In the 1900 census4545, Hugh's last name is listed as "Travis." Other records indicate "Travers" as being correct. His middle initial appears in the 1905 state census4546 for Lockport. In 1905, a son "Fred," age 17 (born ~1888) resided with Hugh, Carrie, and daughters Loraine and Anna. A 1901 newspaper article4547 indicates Fred Travers, age 13, was Hugh's step-son.
Hugh's trade is listed as a day laborer (1900), a moulder in 1905, and moulder at an iron factory in 1910.
Hugh may be the Hugh Travers listed in several real estate conveyances listed in the Lockport NY newspapers ~1935, lists as "Hugh Travers and Bridget, his wife."
Carrie was born4536 4526 in Victor, Ontario Co., NY. Census records indicate Carrie lived with her parents until at least 1892.
Her obituary4526 mentions deceased husband Charles Powers. In the 1920 census4542, Carrie L Powers appears as the wife of Charles H Powers in Lockport, NY. Residing with them is Loraine Travers, "step daughter," indicating that Carrie had married previously.
In the 1900 census4545 and 1910 census4537 for Lockport, Hugh and Carrie Travers appear as husband and wife, married 5 and 14 years, respectively. From that information it is assumed she married first Hugh Travers; had 2 children by him; and Carrie married second Charles Powers. An additional indication4544 that Carrie Smith married Hugh Travers is provided by The Lockport (NY) Journal, May 22, 1902 (fultonhistory.com): in the Ridge Road column - "Mrs Carrie Travers of Lockport spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Smith."
In 1940, Carrie resided4539 at 78 Rogers Ave, in Lockport, NY, the same address mentioned in the obituary4538 for husband Charles as his place of death.
Child 2. Anna
Anna resided with her parents in 1900 and 1905 in Lockport, NY. Anna does not seem to appear in the 1910 census4537, and her mother is listed that year as the mother of 2 children, 1 living. Anna's sister Loraine appears in the 1920 census; Anna's death date is assumed from that information.
