The birth index entry1686 for son Carl lists Deforest's birthplace as "Chening Co., NY." It is assumed that is a mistranscription of "Chemung Co., NY," as Deforest was in Catlin, Chemung Co., NY, in 1870.
In 1900, DeForest was listed5124 as a day laborer. In 1910, he was listed5126 as "Engineer coal mine."
His death date is taken from his headstone840 which indicates only a birth year and death year.
Louella's maiden name is listed1686 in son Carl's birth index entry.
In 1920, Mary L Bideler resided5140 in Illinois Twp, Arkansas, listed as "keeps boarders at home." Children Janie, De Forest, David F, Ransom M, and Lawrence Bideler resided with her. In addition, a boarder, Sam S Colvin, age 40, divorced, born in Illinois, resided in the household.
Sometime before 1940, Luella married Sam S Colvin. Sam S Colvin and Luella Colvin appear5142 as husband and wife. That Ted Bideler is Deforest Bideler, son of Deforest and Luella Bideler is indicated by his World War II draft registration170 card, in which Ted Bideler lists Mrs Mary Luella Colvin as his mother; and, circumstantially, due to his last name; similarity in birth dates recorded for both; Ted Bideler's appearance in the 1940 census5142 for Short Mountain, AR, residing in the house next to Luella Colvin and her second husband, Sam S Colvin; and his general presence in the Paris, Logan Co., Arkansas, area, where many of his relatives lived.

- Five years lated, Ted Bideler, age 40, of Paris, AR, married5177 Dec 17, 1947, recorded in Franklin Co., AR, Miss Gevena Rogers, age 30, of Paris, AR. From the information3346 below, it appears she was actually "Mrs" Gevena Rogers or Rodgers, and more commonly went by the name Sallie or Sally. Ted died Dec 3, 1957, as recorded in a military headstone application, dated Dec 20, 1957, for Ted Bideler, submitted by Sally G Bideler, Box 178, Enterprise, Kansas.
That headstone application form4425 also provides information on Ted's World War II military service and burial. He was inducted into the U. S. Army Nov 2, 1943, and was honorably dischared Sep 6, 1945. He served as a PFC (Private First Class) in the Signal Training Corps School. Also indicated is the headstone was to be shipped to Paris, AR, for placement in the Caulksville Cem., Ratcliff, AR.
