Married⁵²⁶² 1780 May 2⁵²⁶². A Haines family bible⁵²⁶² provides: "John B. Haines and Mehatabel Haines was Married May the 2 day in the yeare of our Lord 1780."

John's middle name is listed⁵²⁶² in the images of a Haines family bible. That source also provides birth dates several birthdates including children Nathan, Benjamin, Mary, Marth[a], Ann, Fanny, Harriot(sic), and Permelia. In that record his death date is somewhat unclear ("?0th") with regard to the day of the month; the month September and year 1818 are almost certain. The assumption that the record has 10th September 1818 is supported by the date of proof²⁵³⁹ of his will: Sep 19, 1818.

Moore²⁵¹⁶ identifies several persons who married children of Thomas(m7) Barkley as the children of John Haines. John Haines' family is herein identified to tie those children together. John's will mentions wife Abigail, daughter Parmelia, daughter Ann Barkley, grand-daughter Mehitable Hunter, son Nathan Haines, and sons-in-law Josiah Barkley and Daniel Wilkin. He signed the will Mar 28, 1818; it was proved Sep 19, 1818.

A Haines family bible⁵²⁶² provides the birth date for "Mehatabel Haines," but there is no indication of her maiden name. Her death date is assumed from the marriage date⁵²⁶² for John B Haines and Abigail Hedges.
