John married first in 1916, in Corning, NY, Florence Fravor. They apparently divorced in late 1921 or early 1922. John and Florence apparently had two daughters, Dorothy and Anna, as Florence Winters appears in the 1930 census in Corning in the household of her mother Lucy Fravor and siblings, with daughters Dorothy E and M Anna. Florence is listed as "widowed." The divorce may also be evidenced as newspaper articles dated after 1921 mention "Mrs Florence Winters," rather than "Mrs John Winters" as was more common in that era.
John married second in 1922, in Tioga Co., PA, Mae (Richards) Antes.
In 1913, Miss Mae Richards was the secretary for the Richards family reunion4890, held at the home of Mr and Mrs David Marcy in Caton. Mrs Marcy was the wife of Charles Sewell, Mae's great-great-uncle.

Winters, age 37, md first c. 1916, mother b PA. Dorortha R Richards, daughter, age 5, is listed with John and Mae in 1930.
