Family of Moses PENNIMAN and Mary VESEY

Moses PENNIMAN b. 1677/8 Feb 14841 at Braintree, MA841. d. 1718 Jul 29568 at Braintree, MA568. bd. Hancock Cem., Quincy, MA841.
Mary VESEY b. 1675 Dec 26841 at (bapt) Braintree, MA841. d. aft May 1, 17464047.

Married841 1698~841.

A rare error: Sprague841 has, in the listing for the family of Moses Penniman [3754R], Moses as the son of John2 Penniman. In the family of John2 Penniman [3750R], there is no son Moses. However, under the listing of the family of Deacon Joseph Penniman [3751R], Sprague has a son Moses. Sprague also has the Will of Joseph Penniman [3751], in which is mentioned "son Moses."

His headstone (transcribed) inscription in Hancock Cem., Quincy, MA, reads (Pattee687, p 122): "Here lyes ye Body of Mr. Moses Penniman, aged about 42 years, Died July 29, 1718."

Mary is assumed to have died after May 1, 1746, as "my sister Mary Green" is mentioned4047 in the will of Rector William Vesey, signed that date.

Child 2. JosephJoseph Penniman graduated Harvard College 1723.

Child 5. Ruth

Hillman800 has Ruth married to John Stetson, referencing Scituate (Mass.) records for a marriage intention, and death of "Ruth Stetson." Ruth Stetson's age at death (82 years in 1791) fits with birth dates among the children of Moses and Mary Penniman. However, a Ruth Penniman "of Brantrey" married "John Rees" on Dec 26, 1737. Child 6. Eleanor[VINTON] Eleanor, or else her cousin Eleanor m. Richard Collier of Boston, March 10, 1736.

Child 7. Moses

Boston, MA: Inhabitants…4502 and Boston Marriages853, possibly the same source, has Moses Penniman married Apr 7, 1737, Rebecca (Rebekah) Edmonds. Boston, MA: Inhabitants…4502 also has Benjamin Edmonds married, in 1733, Rebecca Green. Benjamin's will was probated May 2, 1735. Hillman800 concludes Moses married Rebecca (Green) Edmonds, widow of Benjamin Edmonds.
