Married1728 1917 Jun 271728 at Corning, NY1728. Earle McGowan and Hazel Vera Stevens were married1728 by Harold Stanley Stewart, clergyman. Witnesses were Millicent McGowan (Earle's sister) and J Thomas Wasson. The marriage license was dated Jun 26, 1917.

Their daughter Marilyn was married (first) to Shaug Shauger exactly 33 years after Earle and Hazel's marriage.

In 1900, Hazel was enumerated twice in the census: on June 1 in Corning with her mother Jennie Stevens, and on Jun 12 with her grandparents, Thomas and Elizabeth Sturdevant in Hornby.

Second Lt. Donald Paul McGowan was killed1220 in August of 1943, on a training mission aboard a B-26 Army plane near Dodge City airfield. Just nine days earlier, his mother had pinned his "wings" on him at a ceremony in Lubbock, Texas, at his commissioning as an Army Air Corps officer and pilot.

On April 3 of the previous year (1942), Don had enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was called up on August 19, and was sent to Nashville, Tennessee. From there, he went to San Antonio where he completed his pre-flight course. Later in 1942, at Christmas, he and Leithia Murray of Coopers Plains, announced their engagement to be married.
